Originating in 2015, Derek McNamara began the group with close friends Travis Cohen and Jake Stark to write, record, and perform music. With the addition of Derek’s brother Keenan, they recorded a self-titled album at their home studio in Reisterstown MD, drawing musical inspiration from bands such as Grizzly Bear, Polyenso, and The Flaming Lips. The group sought to merge elaborate and creative studio production with inventive songwriting, and began uploading tunes to SoundCloud under the name Pretty O.P. in 2017. 

After the release of their initial album the Mac brothers, now enlisting the help of younger sibling Spencer on drums, began planning and recording tracks for their upcoming sophomore albums ‘Wash & Dry.’ Soon after, the last Mac brother Mitchell was recruited for marketing, managing, and various instrumental purposes. 

Pretty O.P. stands as a genre-bending indie-pop recording collective that strives to push the boundaries of the alternative sound, while delivering unique and upbeat songs for music lovers and casual listeners alike.
